Hey everyone
A friend was moving out of town and gave me a bunch of tinned items
from her "pantry"
stash. One of the things is about 20 tins of hearts of palm. I am
looking for some ideas of
what to do with it. I sliced two tins into rounds and added it to the
spaghetti sauce on
friday and it was great (daughter didn't think so, but she's at a picky stage).
Most of the recipes I've looked at suggest use in salads, and that
would be fine if I had the
additional ingredients, but for now I don't, so I am looking for easy,
tasty things I can do with
these tins and have veg for the evening meals.
There was also two bags of quinoa, some spanish rice, about 3 dozen
tins of beans, some
tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, so there is lots of
chili in the future of my
family.
It was a big blessing to have my friends give us this food. My eldest
son stopped in to share
in the bounty and his comment was "what were they preparing for ...
Armageddon?" Still, he
left with three boxes of canned food so he to is benefiting big time - lol.
There was also a whole bunch of her homecanned blackberry jam (made
with crab apples for
the pectin) and banana cherry butter. My husband served us turkey
breast with blackberry relish
instead of cranberries - which was pretty good.
Anyway, hearts of palm recipes please.
